Reading Solutions for All Educational Consultant and Learning Lab Founder and Director

Sheri Kennedy has dedicated her life to working in education since 1979. She earned a BS in Special Education from Southeast Missouri University and a Masters in Special Education Administration from Memphis State University. She holds K-12 teaching certificates in Behavioral Disorders, Learning Disabilities, and Mental Disabilities. She is also certified as a School Psychological Examiner, Vision Intervention Program Screener, and as a K-8 Principal.

Sheri has worked as an Educational Consultant in southeast Missouri schools with Reading Plus since 2007 and MaxScholar since 2016. Also in 2016 she founded the Learning Lab in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to provide students and adults the opportunity to strengthen their educational foundation and achieve their academic and career goals.

Nate Kennedy

Marketing and Public Relations, Special Projects Coordinator

Nate Kennedy has a BA in Sociology from the University of Missouri and a Masters in Public Service from the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. For twelve years he worked on political campaigns in Missouri, Arkansas, and Tennessee in organizing, fundraising, communications, and management positions.

Nate’s experience in the education field comes from working as a tutor for Sylvan Learning Center in Little Rock and serving in Americorps at his hometown alma mater, Poplar Bluff Senior High School. During graduate school, Nate spent six months in Uganda working at Hope North, a school for former child soldiers, orphans, and refugees, creating an arts and peace building program and working to improve email and social media marketing strategies.

Reading Solutions for All Post-Secondary Educational Consultant

Lisa Gray specializes in Literacy for Secondary and Post-Secondary students. A former assistant in Special Education, and Communication Arts Educator in grades 5 - 12, including ACT Prep, she is now the coordinator of the Reading Program at Three Rivers College. In addition, she is a content developer for the educational software company, Taylor Associates Communications (Reading Plus).

Lisa has worked closely with Reading Solutions for All since 2014. She collaborates with School Districts, Colleges, Career and Technical Centers, Adult Education and Literacy Programs, Community Outreach Programs and Industries to introduce, demonstrate, and train for both Online and Blended Literacy. She works to build solid, method-based curriculum to supplement web-based programming. She is DESE certified to provide Professional Development hours for both Secondary and Post-Secondary Educators.

Jan retired in 2010 after 36 years of teaching. She have a masters degree in special education and is certified as a Reading Recovery teacher.

During Jan’s teaching career she worked at Twin Rivers School District, Sears Youth Center, Three Rivers Community College, and East Carter County School District. During these years she served as a special education resource teacher, a reading teacher, a reading instructional coach, a math instructional coach, a student support services instructor, and an administrator for Educational Talent Search.

Jan also served as adjunct-faculty for Southeast Missouri State University teaching Early Literacy courses. Since retirement she has been active with the Missouri Retired Teachers Association, served on the board of directors for First Christian Church, and served on the Friends of Margaret Harrell Art Museum Board. She is also associated with Bright Futures in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, through the Kindergarten Center.

Pam Hamlett is a retired educator with 30 plus years of experience working in and with schools. Ms. Hamlett received her BA in Exceptional Children at Southeast Missouri State University and MA in School Counseling at the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Ms. Hamlett completed advanced course work to obtain certifications as a Director of Special Services and Psychologic Examiner. She holds K-12 teaching certifications in Learning Disabilities, Behavioral Disorders, and Mental Disabilities as well as Secondary School Counselor.

Upon her retirement Ms. Hamlett served as Executive Director for Learning Insights Inc. a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing awareness and training to MO Public Schools. As Executive Director, Ms. Hamlett brought the Vision Intervention Program to Schools by training and assisting school staff in the identification and intervention to remediate functional vision delays found to impact school success. Ms. Hamlett is a Field Examiner for Pearson Inc. and has worked on several projects in the development of nationally normed assessment instruments.

Ms. Hamlett lives in the Poplar Bluff, MO with her husband and enjoys spending time with her family with seven grandchildren. Ms. Hamlett continues to be dedicated to identifying and addressing the educational needs of children of all ages.

Kelly Baker has worked in education since 1985. In the Greenville, Missouri, school district Kelly worked as a special education teacher for eight years and a counselor for 16 years. She is currently working as an online instructor with the University of Phoenix, a program evaluator with the Wayne County Drug Court, and a reading instructor at Three Rivers College.

Kelly has an Associate degree from Three Rivers Community College, a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Exceptional Children, and a Master of Science in Counselor Education from Southeast Missouri State University. She is also an education administration specialist and a psychological examiner.

Angie has been in education since 1994. She has been a classroom teacher, physical education teacher, a coach, and a principal. She is very passionate about helping students reach their full potential through physical activity.

Jan Desgranges

Jan has a BSE from Arkansas State University and a MSE from Southwest Missouri Baptist University. She spent 31 years teaching students from first grade to seventh grade before retiring. For 25 years she taught a summer school enrichment class called “I Am A Citizen, Too,” which teaches democratic principles, patriotism, and how to be a good citizen.

Jan has been honored many times throughout her career. She was in the inaugural class of KFVS12’s “Heartland’s 12 Best Teachers” in 1997. She was awarded Teacher of the Year at the Poplar Bluff, Missouri, 5th and 6th Grade Center as well as District Teacher of the Year in 1998, and was a runner up in the state of Missouri – the first teacher from Poplar Buff to be a finalist at the state level. In 2008, Jan was chosen as the local "Veterans of Foreign War Outstanding Government/Americanism Teacher". This honor qualified her to enter the South East District of Missouri competition where she won the "VFW District’s teacher of the year". From there she was nominated for and won the honor of “Veterans of Foreign Wars Missouri State Government/Americanism Teacher of the Year.”

Jan is proud of her long career in education and cherishes these honors very much.

Pamela Dunivan

Pamela Dunivan has been educating students since 1996. She began her career at East Carter County as a speech implementer for two years. Then, she moved into the classroom as a kindergarten teacher. She has taught kindergarten at Poplar Bluff R-1 for the past 12 years with one year as a Reading Coach/Reading Interventionist.

Pamela received her Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education/Elementary Education from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She received her Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri.

Pamela has been involved in a number of programs that have been in the school systems. At present, she is a Professional Learning Community group leader and is implementing the Capturing Kids Hearts program.

Pamela’s passion is watching a child realize their potential as a human being. Her favorite quote is “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us,” (Ralph Waldo Emerson).

Pamela is married, has two children, and two grandchildren. A lot of her free time is spent with her family.

Barb King has been teaching since 1989. She has 3 children, four grandchildren, and a great-grandson. Children have always been part of her life.

Barb has a Bachelor degree from SEMO in Elementary Ed and a Masters Degree from SEMO in TESOL (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages).

Barb has used the Reading Plus program for 14 years. During the time she used it, her students made great gains in their reading skills.

She loves to share those special "a-ha" moments when students realize their success. The joy and awards from teaching can’t be counted.

Joanna Lefler

Joanna began her teaching career with the receipt of a BSE in Elementary Education from the University of Central Arkansas. Her first experience as an educator was gained when she and her husband moved to Poplar Bluff and she served as a reading aide at Lake Road Elementary School. In Joanna’s next role, she worked as an aide and substitute teacher in the East Carter School District before moving to a teaching position focused on remedial reading and math for junior high students. In the subsequent year, she taught sixth grade followed by seven years as a second grade teacher. In 2000, Joanna elected to stay home with her newborn son, but began teaching again in 2005 when she opted to homeschool him from kindergarten through tenth grade.

Nancy Morse is a certified and state licensed Speech Language Pathologist. She graduated from Southwest Missouri State University (MSU) in 1983 with her Bachelor‘s degree and from Southeast Missouri State University in 1986 with her Master’s degree. She also has a certificate in Autism from Missouri Western. She has worked with the developmentally delayed population at the Poplar Bluff Regional Center and with Missouri First Steps Program. She took a stint with the geriatric population in the 90’s, but returned to the public schools in 2000. She has started her 20th year of teaching this year at the Twin Rivers Schools, having taught at East Carter and Doniphan prior.

Nancy has been married to Gary for 33 years and they have 3 grown sons. Most of her free time is spent with her 2 grandsons. She also enjoys cruising with with her hubby on Carnival cruises and in their 1923 T-bucket hot rod.

Kathleen Pattillo is a certified public educator who has received an Associate of Arts Degree from Three Rivers College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Communication Arts from Arkansas State University and is currently receiving a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from William Woods University. Kathleen has been in the classroom since 1991 having taught all subject areas in both Missouri and Arkansas in grades 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th.

Kathleen currently teaches 6th grade Geography at the Poplar Bluff Middle School where she serves on her school’s Leadership Group, Geography Professional Learning Community, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Group, the Poplar Bluff R-1 Technology Vanguard Team and is a Capturing Kids’ Hearts Educator.

Kathleen’s accomplishments include being named the Poplar Bluff Middle School Teacher of the Year, the Poplar Bluff R-1 School District Teacher of the Year, Reading Renaissance Model Reading Teacher and Reading Renaissance Master Reading Teacher.

Kathleen and her husband John David have been married for 27 years and have 4 children.
